The 930 Project Part 2: Delivered to Singapore, Hand-Finished to Perfection

When it comes to restoring icons, the story is not only in the materials - it’s in the hands that shape them. Continuing from the craft in Part 1, Weinkath Automotive’s latest behind-the-scenes video in collaboration with Auto Icons shows exactly what it takes to bring a Porsche 930 Turbo interior to life on-site in Singapore.
We Didn’t Just Send the Interior - We Brought It Ourselves
Weeks of meticulous design in Germany were only the beginning. Unlike a standard shipment of parts, Gerritt Weinkath and his team flew in to install the interior by hand, completing the final steps with real-time precision.
From the headliner to the carpets, from dashboard trims to the speedometer mask, every element was carefully fitted on-site. No shortcuts. No compromises. Every stitch, panel, and line had to be perfect - not just for the car, but for the legacy it represents.
Pressure Meets Precision
The video makes one thing clear: the team was racing against time. With the Auto Icons event just days away, every move counted. Gerritt recalls:
"The original headliner came out, Alcantara went in. A- and B-pillars were reupholstered and carpets glued in.Then it was straight onto the panels, the instrument cluster surround, and the dashboard. The headliner is already installed. The B-Pillars are done too. Leather on the bottom, Alcantara on the top. The cluster surround was now wrapped in leather too. And the carpet was next. One thing was clear. Every move had to be spot on. There was no second try. Nailing the craftsmanship, and then being able to look at the finished result on the event day with pride."
This is the kind of hands-on dedication that turns an already rare 930 Turbo into a collector-grade masterpiece.
“The experience of having a perfect interior is just amazing,"
Colin remarked.
Craftsmanship on Display
By the end of the installation, the interior wasn’t fully finished - but it was assembled enough to reveal the vision. Guests at the event got a glimpse of what happens when old-world craftsmanship meets modern automotive artistry: leather and tartan perfectly aligned, Alcantara accents flawlessly integrated, and the soul of the 930 Turbo unmistakably alive.
It’s a reminder that true restoration should not be sacrificed for speed, it’s about precision under pressure, the kind that only comes from craftsmen who respect the car’s legacy as much as its owner.
Why This Matters to Collectors
For those who live and breathe classic Porsches, this project is a masterclass in provenance and attention to detail. A hand-finished interior protects value, elevates driving experience, and cements the car’s place as an appreciating asset over aesthetics.
As the video shows, the 930 interior was brought to life through relentless focus, expert hands, and an unwavering respect for its legacy - executed under conditions that would challenge all but the most skilled artisans.
A Turbocharged Time Capsule in the Making
The 930 Turbo may be an icon, but projects like this remind collectors why certain cars transcend engineering - becoming living pieces of automotive history. With Weinkath Automotive’s hands-on precision and Auto Icons’ relentless pursuit of excellence, this 1988 classic features a restored interior that recalls a time when individuality and craftsmanship defined luxury motoring. Its resurrection under the vision of Auto Icons x Weinkath Automotive is a statement in itself.
