Inside the Tuthill Visit with Auto Icons: A Porsche Heritage Experience in Motion

In March 2024, Auto Icons made a quiet but purposeful trip to the English countryside - specifically to Tuthill Porsche. Known globally for their air-cooled expertise and rally-proven craftsmanship, Tuthill is less a workshop and more a sanctuary for classic Porsches and the dreams that accompany them.

This was a personal visit grounded in a shared appreciation for craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a mutual love for Porsche.

Our visit centered around a very special car entrusted to Tuthill’s care by one of our clients for us to inspect, a Tuthill-built 911K, based on a 1972 911T.

It’s a restomod that reimagines classic driving with modern mechanical brilliance. Featherweight, analogue, and full of spirit, the 911K blends the raw joy of the original with a crisp, purposeful edge. It’s Porsche, evolved - but never diluted.

The Tuthill visit was more of a quiet check-in than anything else. Some of the collectible cars we’ve helped our client source are stored in the UK, and it’s part of our role to ensure they’re in good hands. Tuthill has been one of those trusted partners over the years.

To mark the occasion, we selected two other icons sourced for our clients from the United Kingdom residing at Tuthill and brought them out from the collection to make the trip even more worthwhile: a 996 GT3 RS and a 1989 911 3.2 Club Sport. Both are high-water marks in Porsche’s evolution - cars that represent the purity of intent, the kind of models collectors quietly covet and enthusiasts always recognize.

For the shoot, the cars each had a story, thoughtfully sourced with an eye for rarity, provenance, and pure driving enjoyment.

It wasn’t a grand event, just a quiet morning in the British countryside, a few conversations with the Tuthill team, and the satisfaction of seeing these cars well looked after.
